The annual week long wagon train of the Southern Indiana Draft Horse and Mule Association got underway this year on
Saturday, September 15, 2018. The group spend the first few days camped on the grounds of the Southern Indiana Horseman's Club near Tell City, Indiana. Each day there was
a wagon ride scheduled in the area around the club. By staying at one location, participants were able to set up camp and not have to worry about moving their trailers each day.
With temperatures in the low 90's the entire week, this allowed folks to set up their generators and to be able to enjoy some air conditioning during the nights. As usual, all meals were
group meals with various members agreeing to provide one evening meal during the week. Needless to say, we ate like kings all week!! On Wednesday, the group didn't plan a ride, but
instead, we all moved the camp across the Ohio River to Hawesville, Kentucky and the home of Dexter and Lula Marsch. The remainder of the week was spent riding on the back roads near
their place. Rain and cooler weather moved in late on Friday and promised to stay through the weekend. Everyone agreed that after one week of daily rides, most of us were ready to call
it quits, but first we celebrated Lula's birthday on Friday evening. Saturday morning saw everyone who was still around packing up and heading out. We all left with a lot of good memories
and lots of stories to keep us entertained throughout the upcoming winter.
