The annual birthday ride of the Southern Indiana Draft Horse and Mule Association was held over the weekend of August 14-16, 2015 at Jim Steven's farm near Grandview, Indiana. It is referred to as the birthday ride because several of the club members celebrate their birthday in August each year. It turned out to be a beautiful weekend with temperatures in the upper 80's and no rain. The activities got underway with a dinner followed by a club meeting on Friday evening to plan for the "big ride" in September. There was a large turnout for this ride with 11 wagons on Saturday and 7 wagons on Sunday. We were accompanied by 5 outriders both days. As you will see in the photos, this part of southern Indiana has lots of gravel roads and is covered with large fields of either corn or soybeans. Everyone had a great time and looks forward to our week long ride next month.
