The 2015 edition of the annual Issac and Friends Benefit Ride fund raiser was held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 this year. As in the past, it was sponsored by Rick and Tina Willoughby and was held at the farm of Tina's parents Billy and Eva Thompson in Pendleton County in north central Kentucky. The reason for this fund raiser is to help the families of several handicapped children who live in that area. Last year the event was able to raise $10,000 to help with the needs of these families. The goal this year was to try to exceed that amount. Unfortunately, the weather on Saturday this year was not very conducive to getting people out to ride. It started raining early in the day and there were scattered downpours all morning and afternoon. Surprisingly, the rain didn't seem to dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd and a fairly large group of both wagons and horseback riders showed up in spite of the weather. There was a trail ride in the morning followed by a delicious pulled pork dinner buffet and an auction of hundreds of donated items. After the auction, there was a live country band that provided music well into the evening and it was announced that the event had raised over $6,000 so far with more donations still coming in! While the results were a little lower than they had hoped, Rick seemed overwhelmed by the support and by the turnout on a day when most people would rather have stayed home and been dry. I know that the rain and overcast presented some challenges to your photographer in trying to get some good photos. A special thanks to the Willoughby's for all the work and dedication it took to pull off such of a great event!!
